Windows Live Messenger 9 Won’t Install? Help!?

Question: Windows Live Messenger 9 Won’t Install? Help!?
Okay, I used to use Windows Live Messenger 8 perfectly fine, and then when the update came, I updated it to Windows Live Messenger 9. It worked fine. Then, I removed alot of programs from my laptop (Windows XP) and then when I came to re-install Windows Live Messenger, from the official website (using Mozilla Firefox) the download comes up with:
wlm-all
0bytes
I then double click the file and press “run” and then it says that the file is “not a valid Win32 file” =SS What? Help!

Then, I had to suffer with the old old old MSN, until I found MSN Messenger 7, downloaded it and used it until i tried Windows Live Messenger 8. It worked fine.

Until today [July 23rd 2009.]
When I tried to sign in it comes up saying “A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to continue. Would you like to do this now?”
With the options:
Yes[starts download]
No[doesn't sign you in]
What’s New [takes you to a website that tells you the new features etc.]

When I press yes,it starts the download, “Downloading the latest version of Windows Live Messenger”.When it is complete. It comes up with “Run” or “Don’t run”

After clicking “Run” it tells you to accept the agreement, after that, it tells you to choose the programs I wish to install. And, as I only wish to use Messenger, I un-click everything, pressing install.

It starts the download, with “interesting pictures” of the Windows Messenger which I can’t use! :(

At 38% it says “Rolling back” and says:
Done.
Click each program for details and error information.
~
When I click “Messenger” it says:
Messenger couldn’t be installed because we had trouble installing these requirements:
-Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime
Programs were not installed because the installation was canceled. failed_prior_task:0×80004004
-Microsoft Application Error Reportig
(the same as above except: aborted:0×80004004
-Segoe UI Font
“programs were not installed…..” failed_prior_task:0×80004004
-Windows Live Upload Tool
“……..” failed_prior_task:0×80004004
-Windows Live Sign-in Assistant.
“…….”failed_prior_task:0×80004004
-Installed
“………..” failed_prior_task:0×80004004
-Choice Guard
“…………..” aborted:0×80004004

Yes, a long list of errors! I did not click anything, I just sat here watching the installer.
The options are: Try again. Close
Try again repeats this failed installation and Close, closes the window.

I really need help!

Also, could this be because I do not have ServicePack3 for XP, read my other question about Windows Updates not working for more details! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkV3d9lyvLHpR3No7opcELjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090718040040AAk6mUB

How do you adjust the type font in Windows Internet Explorer?

Question: How do you adjust the type font in Windows Internet Explorer?
I’m using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 7. I have a LG monitor, and An ATI Radeon video card. At 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution, everything looks great EXCEPT search results and web page text. I went to Control Panel>Internet Options>General. On that page “OK” and “CANCEL” are highlighted, but “APPLY” is not. There is a tab for “Fonts”, where I want to go to change to a bolder font, but nothing happens when I do (The “APPLY” key is still dark). I have only one User Account on this computer, and it is checked as the Administrator Account.

The default fonts are only used if the webpage does not specify font. So in most cases, changing the font will not make any signifcant changes on most newer webpages that specify what font family to use in the HTML or CSS coding.

You can adjust the size of the font and other elements on the page by holding down control and scrolling the mouse wheel up or down, maybe that will help.
